Trek’s exclusive IsoStrut shock sits at the heart of Supercaliber, shifting it into territory that rides the fine line between a hardtail and full suspension. SL VS SLR - Light or lighter
With two levels of OCLV Carbon to choose from, you get to pick how light you roll. Go light with Supercaliber SL or even lighter with Supercaliber SLR that saves grams by reducing material, using a higher-modulus carbon lay-up and skipping the guides for internal cable routing.

Once upon a trail
Extra fuel in the tank
Riding fast burns through a lot of energy. That’s why Supercaliber has room for two full-sized water bottles, so you can stay fuelled all the way to the finish line.
No small flex
Flexing stays may make a ride smooth, but they can pose challenges when it’s time to brake. To allow for the most flex possible – and a smoother ride – we use a brake mount that floats around the rear axle, allowing the rear triangle and suspension to act freely while improving braking performance.
Progressive cross-country geometry
1: Longer reach
Supercaliber Gen 2 gets longer in the cockpit for extra stability and control, so you can rip through rowdy descents.
2: Slacker headtube
A slacker, 67.5° headtube angle stretches out the front-end for easy handling on steep downhill sections and techy terrain.

Supercaliber is a radically new short-travel XC race bike that sprints and climbs faster than a full-suspension bike and gives you more control than a hardtail. Its magic comes from IsoStrut, a structural, frame-integrated shock created in partnership with RockShox suspension engineers that delivers the ideal suspension solution for today’s fastest cross country racers.
How IsoStrut works
IsoStrut is a frame-integrated shock that provides 80 mm of damped, tuneable rear travel for XC racers. Supercaliber’s unique design relies on minimalism. There’s nothing here that isn’t necessary, and every piece is made to work together as part of a greater whole.
Lightweight, structural speed
Standard full-suspension bikes have an independent shock and linkage system, but IsoStrut was designed to be a structural part of Supercaliber. This design eliminates the extra hardware and parts normally associated with full-suspension bikes, and the extra weight along with them.
Anti-rotation, anti-deflection
IsoStrut is encased in a structural stanchion that prevents twisting, flex, deflection and shock damage. You get the direct power transfer and racy feel of a hardtail, with a short-travel shock that soaks up the trail’s fatiguing bumps.
Pivotless seat stays
When you add extra linkages to a bike’s design, you get excess lateral motion. That’s not efficient, and it’s not fast. With IsoStrut, our engineers ditched the traditional rear pivot and designed wide, flat seat stays that bow vertically, not laterally. They keep the rear of the bike stiff and give it the responsive feel of a hardtail.
Damped and fully tuneable
IsoStrut uses a standard shock pump so you can tune the spring rate for your weight, and it has a dial for adjusting rebound and a lockout.
The Supercaliber SL 9.7 GX AXS is an ultra-light carbon XC mountain bike that's ready to lay down rubber on race day. Its SLR Mountain Carbon frame is as light as it is meticulous, with a high modulus lay-up that gives you all the stiffness you crave, and none of the weight. XC courses get rowdier every year, so it's equipped with a 110 mm fork and 80 mm of IsoStrut rear suspension to smooth your roll without kicking pedalling efficiency to the wind.
